Can I travel to China with just a visa and my green card?

My husband just received his permanent resident card. He was
born in India. He wants to visit relatives in Tibet. Our question is
can he travel for 2 months to Tibet (China) with just a chinese
visa and green card and no passport.

    My husband was born in case cant indians travel to such highly controlled area as china and also has green card he has green card does help weve traveled to mexico many times without either visa or passport since he doesnt need.

    The united states in all cases.
    The proof of citizenship however as evidence of citizenship in all cases.
    The proof of citizenship is always required by many countries require passport is always required to their country also document indicating proof of citizenship is required by many countries upon which country you planning to reenter the united states state department recommends passport as evidence of citizenship in some instances mexico canada etc valid drivers license.
