but none of us have any idea how to write it

The olympics and its become harder to get visa.

You need your host in China to write it. Just ask them to write a letter saying…
Dear …
Please come visit … in Harbin in … for the purpose of …
Your friend …
With the Olympics coming it has become very difficult to get into China. It’s not anywhere near as hard as getting a visa into the US, but it is more difficult than before.
