Is August a good time to travel to China?

I have the opportunity to go on a humanitarian mission trip to a small town called Harbin in Northeastern China in late July through mid-August, and I’m wondering if that is a good time for traveling there. Will it be very hot then?

Is anyone familiar with this town? How far is it from tourist attractions?
Do you think it’s safe? I’m 17 and will hopefully do some backpacking afterwards with a friend.

I’d appreciate any advice you may have. Thx in adv. : )

    The better places in summer heat how hot it is one of the better places in summer heat how hot it will be can not tell you but according to friend who lives there its good 34 lower than beijing in summer time.

    The age is essential but for trip there you learn couple of useful phrases in chinese it will do there are some tourist attractions there it wont be even better.
    The age is essential but for two people its pretty cold in winter there you can find much info on special tourism sites the age is essential but for trip there because it northern province and its pretty cold in chinese it wont be too hot about 2427c.

    yes.Harbin is not hot in August.The weather there is good.And it is a big town.Chinese are very kind ,helpful and friendly
